Actionable Payments Data: Introducing the PayOS Self-Serve Portal

Today we are launching the PayOS self-serve portal, available globally from day one: direct access to the actionable payments data PSPs have kept out of reach for years.

Actionable Payments Data for the Agentic Economy

When we started PayOS in March of 2025, we observed three colliding trends in the world of payments, all with a common theme: actionable payments data.

  • PSP lock-in: Rather than setting their merchants free, PSPs gave them opacity and a processor token. Merchants and businesses have always needed full access to their actionable payments data (actionable payments data!) to operate freely and solve their own problems, yet the players they depended on were built around lock-in rather than transparency.
  • The arrival of agentic commerce: In this new era, the merchant remains the merchant of record (MoR). While agents facilitate payments on behalf of consumers and businesses, the underlying payment processing remains unchanged. Agents need to handle payment credentials securely so they can be passed downstream to a merchant (actionable payments data!), and at the same time they need to evaluate risk and eliminate fraud at run time (again, actionable payments data that is locked up with PSPs!).
  • The use of AI across companies: Companies everywhere were turning to AI to solve problems across customer support, coding, analytics, and back-office operations, but an AI can only act well when it has complete data (actionable payments data, yet again!). For a company processing payments through a PSP, that is a major shortcoming. Most have access to authorization responses at best, and even then they depend heavily on their PSP just to explain what those responses mean.

What we set out to do

The actionable payments data needed to establish trust became the core of agentic commerce, and therefore the core focus for PayOS. So that is what we set out to do: help agents pay, and build trust and safety in this new world by making critical actionable payments data available to anyone who needs it, anywhere in a transaction.

Introducing the PayOS self-serve portal

And today, we are launching the PayOS self-serve portal, available globally from day one. It gives anyone, anywhere, direct access to the actionable payments data that PSPs have kept out of reach for years. PSPs will not share it, and they structurally cannot, because their entire business model depends on keeping merchants locked in. We believe that era is over. AI agents can now use this data to pay and to handle trust and safety, and every other company can use it to make sound decisions before a single dollar moves.

The questions every transaction must answer

Agentic commerce raises a set of key questions that every participant has to answer. Is this user someone I can trust? Is this card good for the transaction, and is it the best card to use? Is the bank account the agent is about to pay out to a good account, and when a sender is paying out a large sum, is the recipient account safe to send it to? Is this business legitimate, and can that be confirmed before the agent makes a payment? From the business’s side, how does it know that the card an agent is transacting with is genuine? And as an issuer, can I be confident that this transaction was actually initiated by my cardholder?

These answers are needed at the start of every transaction, and every company participating in agentic commerce will need to solve for them. The underlying answers are all actionable payments data, drawn from every entity involved in the transaction, and PayOS provides access to all of it.

Global from day one

Every one of these capabilities is global. Agentic commerce does not stop at borders, and neither does the need for trust, so we built PayOS to work wherever your customers, businesses, and transactions are.

A new website, and an open invitation

Alongside the portal, we are also launching a new website that tells this story. We believe open access to actionable payments data is how trust in agentic commerce gets built, and how the agentic economy truly takes off.

We welcome any company or agent, anywhere in the world, to sign up and try it out at payos.ai.
